On April 28, 2014, Toyota announced it is uniting its separate headquarters locations in North America including Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., Toyota Financial Services, Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. and Toyota Motor North America to a single, shared campus in the North Dallas Community of Plano, Texas. In addition, we are also expanding our Technical Center on the York campus near Ann Arbor, Michigan and constructing a new facility on Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky's campus in Georgetown, KY to house Production Engineering.
The Toyota Technical Center is looking for a Wire Harness Engineer to help route and package new State-of-the-Art power distribution and wire harness systems being developed for current and future passenger vehicles. As a Wire Harness Engineer, you will be working in a dynamic environment that impacts all car systems and components that include engines, transmissions, on-board sensors and diagnostic systems and active safety systems. This position is located at our Saline, MI campus.
This position has responsibility for vehicle power distribution and wire harness systems.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Design and develop wire harness (w/h) (engine, engine room main, instrument panel, floor, door, roof) for North American vehicle programs.
Create sub-system wiring diagram, fuse load list, grounding system layout and wire harness drawings based on system component specification.
Interface with system component engineers such as bus system (OBII, CAN, etc.), head lamp, air bag ECU, audio, engine fuel ignition ECU, etc.
Formulating drawings on CAD system (W/H Cabling Design).
Support and trouble shoot wiring harness related issues during prototype build stage.
Liaison between various Toyota Design Center's Engineering Staff.
Interface with Plant engineering, quality, and assembly departments.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's of Science Degree in an engineering discipline (with fundamental mechanical design knowledge)
Engineering experience in a co-op or professional setting
CAD experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
Willingness to work extended time
Preferred
Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering Degree
Experience with wire harness routing or packaging
Hands-on experience with the design and development of automotive parts
Catia experience

TTC's Michigan R&D facilities are located in Ann Arbor, Saline, Plymouth and Livonia. In addition, TTC has testing facilities in Torrance and Gardena, California and a 10-mile oval test track in Wittmann, Arizona.
TTC is engaged in engineering design, prototype building, vehicle evaluation and engineering, materials engineering, powertrain tuning and design, safety/crashworthiness, regulatory affairs and advanced research. TTC has development responsibility for vehicles such as the Avalon, Camry, RAV4 EV, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra and Venza.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
