JAC Products is seeking an experienced Materials Specialist to join our growing team in Saline, MI!


As a critical part of the Corporate Materials team, the Materials Specialist acts as a Project Manager for the development and implementation of materials systems improvements through metrics management. The Materials Specialist has shared ownership of the information set-up and maintenance in the MRP system.


The Materials Specialist contributes to the JAC Products Corporate Materials Team by:

  • Managing process improvements in alignment with assigned JAC Products plant through monitoring key metrics.

  • Leading weekly calls with plant leadership to review metrics, root cause and countermeasure to achieve targets.

  • Creating and testing new processes to improve materials systems and training impacted employees at all levels within the organization.

  • Developing and maintaining work instructions for all materials procedures.

  • Writing ODBC queries including formatted templates to extract information from the ERP system.

  • Creating and maintaining Bill of Materials (as directed in ERP), materials costing/routings of parts, facilities, vendors, etc.

  • Conducting root cause analysis for materials discrepancies to determine the source of materials based problems, explaining variance, and presenting to the team.

  • Working closely with plant materials teams to understand where skills can be utilized to run more efficiently.

  • Assisting manufacturing plants in semi-annual physical inventories and developing a system to improve inventory accuracy.

  • Adhering to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices; ensuring all equipment is in safe operating condition and meets or exceeds OSHA standards.

  • Complying with all necessary QMS / EMS procedures and work instructions.

Qualified Candidates will possess the following skills/competencies:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to meet aggressive deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a focus on presenting data in a format to tell a story.

  • High level of attention to detail.

  • Foster and maintain a team-oriented working environment that allows for individual differences and provides for individual growth.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies and procedure manuals and operating instructions.


Qualified candidates will possess the following education/experience:

  • Bachelor?s Degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management

  • 2-3 years of previous experience in Material Planning

  • Microsoft Excel ? proficient at VBA

  • Working knowledge of Bill of Materials

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
